Seven Women’s Day Quotes for Daily Life
1. “A charming woman doesn’t follow the crowd. She is herself.”
–Loretta Young
It takes a certain degree of confidence to step out from your peers and be different. However, there are great rewards when you do this. In fact, many will admire you and wish that they too had the courage to be themselves. This is how you can inspire others to take their own stand, to rise above the strong current of the crowd which is usually moving to some unknown destination. A woman who can simply be herself, without looking to others to define her worth, becomes truly charming and admirable. When you cease to follow the crowd, you may just find that others start to follow you.
2. “Women are seldom silent. Their beauty is forever speaking for them.”
–Philip Moeller
Beauty is a combination of both outer and inner characteristics. Without saying a word it is possible to “speak volumes”, merely by our expression, body language, and the attitude of our hearts, whether positive or negative. We can cultivate our inner beauty by seeking to live with integrity, showing compassion to others and living in forgiveness. In this way our beauty will speak for us, regardless of the shape of our nose or the colour of our hair. Then when we do open our mouths to speak, worthwhile words of strength and grace can flow from our inner being.
3. “A woman with a voice is by definition a strong woman. But the search to find that voice can be remarkably difficult.”
–Melinda Gates
A young voice can be very fragile, delicate and vulnerable. How many young girls have spoken boldly from their hearts, only to be ridiculed or ignored? “Who do you think you are? You’re just a kid…” This is how a voice can be strangled and injured. But it is the challenge and mission of every woman to search and find her voice… that unique and amazing essence of who she is – a voice which the world needs to hear. It can be a difficult journey but an essential one, because for a woman, finding her voice is tantamount to finding herself.
4. “Women who seek to be equal with men lack ambition.”
– Timothy Leary
In many ways men and women are so vastly different, that any comparison is quite irrelevant. The equality women seek should be only in terms of respect, dignity, and opportunity. But in every other way women have a unique role in society, just as men do. The most obvious child-bearing role of women is one of the greatest privileges afforded by our Creator. Let us not discard that privilege. Let us seek to be the best women, wives, mothers, and sisters that we can be. And let the men in turn be the best that they can be.
5. “A woman’s guess is much more accurate than a man’s certainty.”
–Rudyard Kipling
6. “I would rather trust a woman’s instinct than a man’s reason.”
–Stanley Baldwin
These two quotes allude to the famous “woman’s intuition.” How true it is that as women we can often just know something without being told. We know when someone is hurting or offended. We know when something is not going to work, or when it is going to be a waste of time to go some or other route. This is due largely to a woman’s tendency to pay close attention to her own feelings as well as to the subtle emotions of those around her, which may tend to be overlooked by most men. Surprisingly, the two quotes above were written by men, showing their respect and recognition for this innate and valuable quality of women.
7. “Don’t compromise yourself. You are all you’ve got.”
– Janis Joplin
So often women are dissatisfied with themselves, spending countless hours wishing they were more like this or less like that. If only they could do this or that, or if only they had been born at a different time or place. All this kind of negative thinking is very destructive and futile. It prevents us from recognising the incredible gift of life which we have been given. If we come to a place of acceptance and thankfulness for who we are, despite whatever challenges that may include, then we can go forward with hopefulness and be an inspiration to others.
