Do all exes eventually come back?

People getting back together after being apart for a reasonable period of time is not unheard of. In fact, it happens quite often. Research has shown that 40-50% of people get back to their exes. Most often this happens because neither can completely shake off their past.

Should you go back to your ex?

Your ex is an ex for a reason.

In fact, there could be possibly multiple reasons behind your breaking up. Sometimes the causes are not too grave, just not seeing eye to eye on some aspects. You can very well consider a second chance. However, it is wise not to have too many expectations about the quality of the relationship.

However, for more grave reasons, you need to give it serious thought. Check for signs your ex will never come back that might include another love interest. Think over the reasons why you guys broke up at all. Was there any instance of abuse? For such cases, one must close the past and get moving.

Which brings us to the question– why do exes never come back? One would think there has been enough bad blood to move away in the first place. It is seen that in most cases where exes reunite, there are specific reasons for doing so.

• Familiarity

Being together for long periods of time makes one familiar with their partner. This can be to an extent where in spite of not liking many things about them, you still feel your ex was better in some ways.

• Perspective

Looking back from a distance gives a better perspective. Minor irritants finally look like ‘minor’ and not much of an issue to go different ways.

• Regret

Staying apart can make one more objective about one’s own role in the souring of a relationship. This regret can bring about a change in mindset and lead to a more mature approach the second time around.
