Approachable women are also generally attractive to men. Thus, if you are an attractive woman, a man will naturally show signs he just wants attention from you. In addition, a friendly lady will typically get most guys’ attention.

Therefore, a man interested in you will continually showcase certain signs he wants you to notice him, answering your question, “What does it mean when a guy notices you?”

What he does to get your attention may be pleasant, but the point is to make you see him as different from any other guy.

Why do guys want you to notice him?

Men often desire to be noticed by others, particularly by someone they’re attracted to, as it boosts their self-esteem and validates their worth. Recognition can provide a sense of affirmation and attractiveness, fulfilling their emotional needs.

Additionally, it can be a precursor to initiating a connection or relationship, as noticing someone can be the first step in getting to know them better. Ultimately, the desire to be noticed is often rooted in the fundamental human need for validation, self-esteem, and the potential for forming meaningful connections.

How to tell if a guy is trying to get your attention

One question that bothers many women when they doubt a guy is, “What are the signs he wants my attention?”

It can be challenging to read a guy correctly in a world where deception rules. You can’t tell if he just wants your attention for fun or is genuinely interested in you. Knowing the right cues and actions is vital to avoid falling into the wrong guy’s hands.

For instance, he can make jokes and laugh more in your presence. Also, some men may boast of their achievements when you are around. While boasting about your achievement isn’t the best way to make a woman like you, it has a high chance of you paying attention to him.

Another tactic a man may show when he wants your attention is to ensure he is the center of attraction in a room. That may show in the way he dresses or walks. Also, if a guy wants your attention, he may start a conversation with you.

For example, he can remark on your shoes or dress. He then proceeds to show where you bought it. These are simple ways to get your attention and signs he wants to approach you.

Essentially, a guy will make conscious efforts to ensure you see him. From his appearance to his mannerisms, a guy who likes you won’t stop until you notice him. You may not even realize it until he makes it consistent.

How long does it take for a guy to know he is interested in you?

There is no one-size-that-fits-all regarding the duration a guy ponders before determining he wants to be with you. It depends on the man and his intended partner.

Some men can know immediately the moment they meet their partner, while it can take a while for others to make a final decision. According to research, it takes around four to six months to decide if a person wants to be with another.

The time it takes you to choose your love interest depends on you and other factors. If your partner appears open-minded and approachable, it takes less time. However, some partners are not open books, giving the guy a long time to decide.

In other words, the beginning of a partnership involves getting to know each other better. If a man feels his love interest is still a stranger to him, he might want to take his time. This would make it hard to see signs he wants you to notice him.

In some other cases, a guy may be the one causing the delay because he is confused. For example, he can remark on your shoes or dress. He then proceeds to ask where you bought it. These are ways to get your attention and signs he wants to approach you.

Whatever the reason, men know if they have found the right partner in a few months. To tell if a guy wants you to notice him, the following are the typical behaviors and cues you will observe.

27 telling signs he wants you to notice him

Dating can be a confusing experience for many as sometimes your insecurities may get in the way of your having a real understanding of the situation.

At other times, it may be hard to read signs he wants you to notice him as they may be too subtle to pick up.

Here are some signs that you can use as your guide when you are trying to figure out how to tell if a guy notices you:

1. He dresses up

Who wouldn’t notice a well-dressed man with excellent charisma? Speaking doesn’t come naturally when a shy guy wants your attention, so he shows signs he wants to make a move through his dressing.

His outfit may not be the most expensive, but it will ooze class and confidence. We all have moments when we care less about our dressing, but if you see a guy dressing up for you, that’s one of the signs he wants you to notice him.

2. He tells jokes

Jokes are one of the signs he wants you to notice him. If jokes were easy to tell, there wouldn’t be comedians or stand-up comedians making money to make people laugh.

Besides, laughing is good medicine to change your mood and brighten your day. A guy who wants your attention will try to tell you jokes just to see you smile.

3. He changes his look often

Women may change their hair often or apply make-up to make a guy notice them. The same also applies to men. One of the signs he is trying to get your attention is when he changes his hairstyle consistently.

Most guys are okay with maintaining a single appearance style for a long time.

However, when a guy starts caring about his appearance, spicing up his hairstyle, using exotic sunglasses, or wearing his shorts in a certain way when you are around, it is one of the signs he wants your attention.

4. He is conscious of his look

Aside from dressing up or paying attention to appearance, one other way a guy makes you pay attention to him is if he is super self-conscious about his looks.

If you catch a guy caressing his well-trimmed beard or touching his hair in your presence, you may have a potential partner.

5. He stares at you

Starting a woman you are interested in has been a long-time sign a man wants you to notice him. While some men do it intentionally, others can’t help but gawk at your beauty and appearance.

Honestly, it’s sometimes embarrassing for a lady when a man stares at her for an extended period, but it means he wants your attention.

6. He makes eye contact with you

Similar to staring is when a man makes frequent eye contact with you. Besides, regular eye contact is one of the top ways a guy wants you to notice him.

Of course, you can’t stop people from seeing you every day. However, a guy interested in you will want you to know he sees you. You don’t have to do anything extraordinary before he makes eye contact.

7. He helps you at work

If there is a guy who is showing signs he wants you to notice him at work, one of the things he does is help you out with some of your duties.

Workplaces usually have strong policies about workers dating each other, so it is unlikely that he will speak up outrightly. But he will always ensure he helps you out, especially when you have some work overload.

8. He advises you

A guy who wants you to notice him wouldn’t want you to make a wrong decision in any area of your life. Advising you can be one of the things guys do to get your attention.

As such, he ensures he gives you the best advice and points you in the right direction. When you take his advice, and the result comes out well, there is no way you will ignore him.

9. He supports your business

Another sign he wants to approach you is when he supports your business. How can anyone possibly ignore an individual who makes sure you make more profit? No way! A guy can help your business by introducing you to new clients, advertising your business, and buying your products.

10. He shows his talents

When a guy wants your attention, one way to show it is through his talents. Everyone has one talent or skill, but they may not show it. However, someone who craves your attention will ensure you know he has special abilities in singing, sports activities, and so on.

11. He carries you along

A situation like this can happen if you are in a group meeting or work. When a guy wants your attention, he ensures you are part of a conversation or project. He may ask for your opinion in a group of other people just to hear you talk.

Also, if something can benefit you, he ensures you are included without you knowing.

12. He boasts in front of you

Boasting isn’t the best way to make anyone notice you, but many men see it as their best chance. Whether it impresses you depends on your personality.

For example, a guy may chip in about his recent promotion at work or how he won a project a few weeks ago during conversations. All he wants is for you to see him as more than an average guy.

13. He notices little details about you

One of the signs he wants to get closer to you is when a guy notices small details about you. You may not even realize those details about yourself. For example, if a guy comments about your change of handbag or hairstyle, it means he must have been watching you.

14. He constantly asks how you feel

“How are you?” is a general question people ask one another. But it can be odd if a guy is constantly concerned about your well-being.

One of the top signs he wants to make a move is when a guy constantly asks how you feel. This question can be soothing when you need someone to talk to. Therefore, a person who cares about your feelings is the best option in this situation.

15. He takes an interest in what you like

One of the signs he wants to approach you is when your hobbies fascinate a guy.

16. He introduces you to his friends

One of the signs he wants you to notice him is introducing you to his friends. You may not know his intentions then, but he knows what he is doing. That is his way of telling his friends he wants to make a move on you.

Don’t be surprised if his friends start talking about how friendly and decent the guy is when he leaves you with them. They are only pitching him to you indirectly.

17. He invites you out

One of the signs he wants to be with you is when he invites you to events. These occasions will often involve his social circle and closest friends. It is also a way to spend more time with you without asking directly.

18. He acts differently when you are around

If a guy suddenly acts differently whenever you are around, it could mean he is conscious of you. For instance, a naturally loud guy may calm down and reduce his pitch in your presence. Adjusting his behavior means he wants you to pay attention to him.

19. He follows you on all your social media accounts

Social platforms are places where many people spend their time. You can know a lot about a person’s background these days through their social media accounts. A guy who wants your attention will always consider your social media platforms.

At first, it may feel creepy when a guy follows all your social media accounts. However, it is one of the signs he wants you to notice him online. It is also one of the ways to know you more without asking.

20. He tags you on social media posts

Statistics indicate that an average person spends about 151 minutes online daily. Hence, it is one avenue a guy may try to get your attention.

One of the common signs he wants you to notice him is tagging you on random posts on social platforms. These posts will often be content he knows you like.

21. He texts you

One of the common ways he may want you to notice him is through text messages. If you aren’t sure, check if he acts like that to others around him.

Our technology world has made communication easy, and text messaging is the easiest way to make you acknowledge an intending partner.

22. He makes an effort to see you in person

At the initial stage of any partnership, some men will want to start slowly, which may make you question, “Is he trying to get my attention?”

23. He tells you about himself without you asking

If you notice, a guy usually tells you about himself when you don’t ask; he wants your attention. Usually, it is his way of pushing you to speak about yourself. As time passes, you will willingly share your opinion or give a similar experience to reciprocate.

24. He knows personal things about you

A guy who knows about your favorite color, hobby, or hometown wants you to notice him by all means.

For instance, it will take you by surprise when he buys you a shirt of your favorite color. Naturally, you will want to ask how he knows about it, and that’s how conversations start.

25. He listens to you more than others

When a guy wants your attention, he becomes your listening ear. He will give you full attention when you talk or rant.

FAQs

Understanding someone’s feelings and intentions can be challenging. In various social situations, deciphering the signs that someone is attracted to you, figuring out the meaning of prolonged gazes, dealing with mixed signals, or identifying signs of genuine love can be crucial.

Here are brief insights into each of these aspects:

• What are some signs that a guy is attracted to me?

When a guy is attracted to you, he might make prolonged eye contact, initiate conversations, or find reasons to be near you. He may also become more playful, tease you, or remember small details about your life, showing a keen interest in getting to know you better.

• Does it mean anything if a guy keeps looking at me?

Frequent glances could indicate interest or attraction. If a guy keeps looking at you, he might try to catch your attention or assess your reaction. It’s possible he’s too shy to approach you directly or is simply intrigued by your presence.

• How do I deal with a guy who is mixed signals?

Mixed signals can be confusing. To address this, have an open and honest conversation with him. Ask for clarity about his intentions and express your feelings. Pay attention to his actions, as they often speak louder than words, and trust your instincts when deciding how to proceed.

• What are the signs that a guy is in love?

When a guy is in love, he may prioritize your happiness and well-being. He’ll actively listen, offer support, and sacrifice for your sake. His eyes will light up when he sees you, and he’ll express affection openly. Consistency, trust, and emotional connection are also key indicators of love.

Key takeaway

By now, you should know the signs he wants you to notice him or not. So, what should you do? First, if you are interested in the guy in question, you can reciprocate.

For instance, you can start by telling him more about yourself. Also, you can accept his invitations to parties and other events. Once you show these signs, you push him to commit to the relationship and desire you more.

On the other hand, if you have no interest in the guy, it is best to tell him immediately. That will save both of you some time. Ensure you reject him politely, giving him reasonable reasons why a relationship may not work out between you.
