I believe that every couple comes into therapy with unique experiences and backgrounds, which is why I don't beleive that cookie cutter therapy works well for couples. I seek to gain a deep understanding of the history of the relationship as well as the backgrounds that inform how each individual within the couple sees the world. It is my goal to use this information to tailor the therapy to fit each couple that comes through the door.
Throughout this process, every couple reports symptoms of problems that exist within the relationship. I aim to provide the couple with tangible skills in order to better navigate those symptoms. Once these symptoms are better managed, it is my goal to assist the couple in making larger, more systemic, changes in the relationship and perhaps in their individual lives in order to reduce the need for perpetual symptom management and produce substantive change.
