I believe that the most progress is made in couples therapy and marriage counseling when partners are willing to accept and focus on what they have to change, rather than their partner. This perspective facilitates the right attitude and focus on contributing to a team, rather than wanting your partner to do all the heavy lifting. I make it clear from the beginning that I am not a neutral party due to the values and concepts I believe to be vital to a relationship. By establishing the goals of each partner and a vision of how they want their relationship to be a work towards helping them find the necessary changes to be made. There are countless tools and exercises at our disposal to affect change in each of my clients lives so that they ultimately integrate more understanding, compassion, acceptance, and love into their relationship.
