I have been trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy and the Gottman Method for couples. I come from an attachment perspective meaning, the way we have learned to connect in our primary relationships are important to consider for how we relate in our current relationships. It also means our relationships are the place where we seek comfort and kind find healing.
I am trained in treating Neurodiverse Couples where one person is on the autism spectrum or holds aspberger traits. This unique approach recognizes differences in neurology. We learn new ways to interact and deepen marital bonds that take into account the unique challenges of the couple.
For individual therapy, I have been trained in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy which teaches us how to accept the difficult things and still live meaningful transformational lives. This approach helps us define our core values as we approach the problems we face. It is a powerful way of creating life-long healing. I often utilize this approach when one person of a couple comes to therapy.
I also am trained in trauma approaches including Cognitive Processing Therapy and Complex PTSD Therapy. Both of these approaches are helpful for relearning the meaning of traumatic events. We learn to process these harmful events while maintaining a calm body. I incorporate somatic interventions where we use our body to activate healing.
