Nelson Banegas is a pre-licensed professional and Master’s level intern at the Marriage Point. Nelson holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of La Verne and a Masters in Divinity with an emphasis in Family Pastoral Care and Counseling from Fuller Theological Seminary. He successfully completed a Clinical Pastoral Education Internship at Emory University Hospital Midtown, in Atlanta. Nelson is certified as a Christian Counselor by the Board of Examiners for Georgia Christian Counselors and Therapists. He is a Certified Prepare-Enrich Facilitator. He is also an ordained Pastor. Nelson is currently working on his Master of Arts degree in Mental Health Counseling.
Nelson takes a person-centered and cognitive-behavioral approach to counseling. Nelson has worked in pastoral ministry for over twenty years. Throughout his ministry career Nelson has had the opportunity to work in various pastoral roles, from assistant pastor in a small multi-cultural church in Los Angeles, to lead pastor in rural Georgia. No matter his role, Nelson’s strongest passion is providing caring support and spiritual guidance to church and community members. Working from a pastoral counseling perspective, Nelson works with couples and individuals around issues of spiritually, vocation and calling, clergy-church relations, grief and loss, pre-marital counseling, and relational concerns.
