I pull from several theories and personal experience as holistically as possible to tailor my approach to the needs of my clients. In general, I partner with my clients, hope to build a good rapport and environment of learning that allows for both seriousness and relaxation with occasional laughter and fun. I hope my clients gain knowledge and comfort with their decision making and communication. I also learn from them. I will sometimes see members of the couple for an individual session, but advocate for no secrets. In session, we'll try some exercises in addition to just talking and I may recommend things to try or read at home. Some of my favorite authors, theorists, are Gottman, Sue Johnson, and Helen Lerner.
