My passion is to help you understand your heart, needs, and relational patterns, so you may know yourself more deeply. This allows you to live more fully and freely in a relationship with yourself and others. While we are most harmed in relationships, we are also most healed by them. I want to offer safety and space to help you heal and rebuild your sense of self and deep inner knowing. You matter. Your story matters.
I view each client as unique and develop the best approach for your therapy. My therapeutic approach is client-centered and integrative in nature, while being deeply influenced by attachment theory. My reflective, curious personality, and my ability to connect and empathize with others, bring a relational aspect to my work.
Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) is the main lens through which I work. In my experience both as a client and as a therapist, EFT is the most powerful therapeutic approach to couples therapy. Too often, people focus on the content of what is wrong ("Why can't he load the dishwasher correctly?" or "Why won't she stop nagging me?") rather than the process of what is actually happening ("I need to feel respected and heard" or "I need more connection"). Conflict resolution and communication skills are not enough to address the emotional processes happening underneath it all. EFT has been found through much research to effect lasting change and connection. The American Psychological Association considers EFT to be the gold standard for couples therapy.
I offer standard 50 minute sessions as well as 1,2 or 3 day intensives.
