I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate with a Bachelor of Arts in History from Seattle Pacific University and a Master of Theology and Master of Arts in Counseling from Dallas Theological Seminary. I enjoy working with adolescents, adults, couples, and families with a clinical focus in childhood and complex trauma; grief and loss (i.e., death and dying of a loved one); recovering a thriving spiritual life after religious abuse or church hurt; and supporting survivors of divorce, narcissistic abuse, and Family Scapegoat Abuse by rebuilding their identity and reclaiming their life.
My primary therapeutic approach is Internal Family Systems (IFS, also called “parts work”), a non-pathologizing, evidence-based psychotherapy that recognizes everyone as having an innate, core “Self” — i.e., the undamaged essence of who we truly are with qualities like calm, clarity, compassion, and confidence — and “parts” of our personality that carry deep emotional wounds for us and protect us from life’s adverse experiences. The goal of IFS is to increase your Self in understanding and unburdening these vulnerable and protective parts of you. In practice this looks like guiding each partner and family member to focus on healing their own hurting parts rather than relying on the other person to heal themselves, creating space in the relationship for deeper connection and acceptance of one another.
