I have a solid foundation in a number of therapeutic and intervention models, including Evidence Based Treatments. I integrate a cognitive and behavioral approach with psychodynamic and body-centered techniques. I’m trained and certified in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), a somatic therapy that enables people to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that are the result of disturbing life experiences; and Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT), an experiential therapy which addresses distress in couples and helps to create a more secure bond. I also have extensive training in The Hakomi Method, which studies, through the use of mindfulness, how we organize experience; and Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, a body-oriented therapy that combines cognitive, emotional, verbal dialogue, and somatic interventions that draw from attachment theory and neuroscience. I specialize in trauma and couples therapy and have over 14 years of experience working with multicultural populations, including the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer (LGBTQ) community. I’m also bicultural and speak Spanish fluently.
