In my counseling practice, I am somewhat eclectic in my approach. I will often combine Emotionally Focused Therapy with John Gottman Theory and anything the couple may need upon discussion of goals, desires and, depending on what the couple needs, homework as well. I will often see each partner individually to create relationship and understand the issues each person feels are significant so as to begin identifying any unhealthy behavior that may be preventing the couple from reaching their relationship goals.
Individually, I work psychodynamically as a primary approach. I also include narrative therapy and some cognitive behavioral therapy as well. My sessions are focused around the client, their felt needs and goals we estabilish in co-operation with one another.
