My clinical approach is rooted in the therapeutic relationship. Empathy, validation, and the provision of a safe environment are essential aspects of a positive healing alliance. Aside from solely focusing on symptom reduction, I place an emphasis on the client’s maladaptive patterns of relatedness to themselves and others. In turn, clients grow and prosper by clarifying their wants, needs and desires; therapy provides a reparative experience. The goal becomes to make better informed decisions based on newfound freedoms. You can hope to have an increased sense of yourself, enhanced relationships, improved communication skills, and a better work/life balance. I encourage you to share your story so we can relate to one another on a deeper level. Too often individuals are not validated or heard in a manner to fit their needs. Stories are important as they are a way to explore what it means to be human.
In an effort to practice what I preach, I examine my own motives, desires and behaviors. This focus is essential for growth as both a fellow human and a professional. This kind of honesty creates an optimal therapeutic environment for clients to explore themselves and be the person they wish to be.
