I work from a person-centred approach, meeting each client and couple where they’re at. In couple’s therapy specifically, I draw from training in the Gottman Method of Couple’s Counselling, which reflects over fifty years of research on couples. I also find that my specialized knowledge of mindfulness, attachment, sexuality, mental health, trauma, addiction, and acquired brain injury, can be relevant to issues many couples are facing. Practically speaking, I integrate a focus on attachment, science-based psychoeducation –or psychological information— to help couples make sense of their concerns, and emotion-focused strategies to develop and enhance connection building and communication skills.
