Wedding Proposal Ideas That She Can’t Say No to

Your wedding proposal should be something to remember the rest of your life.  After all, from the minute she says “yes”, you will be sharing the whys, wheres, and hows of that special moment.   How can you create a unique proposal that will be a joy to share with those around you now, and in the future?

1. Make it personalized

Think of something special that you and your fiancé love to do.  Are you gourmet cooks? How about placing her engagement ring inside a new piece of cookware?   Are you sports enthusiasts? What about attaching her engagement ring onto a tennis racket or the laces of her running shoes?  The point is to link this momentous occasion with something that reflects your mutual passion. (Besides each other!)

2. Pick a location that means something to both of you

Take her back to the restaurant where you had your first date.  Pop the question during dessert, with a waiter bringing the ring around with the coffee.  If you both love going to the symphony, reserve tickets for a favorite concert and ask her to marry you at intermission.  Are you baseball fans? Get your question up on the Jumbotron.

3. Make it fun

Why not set up a treasure hunt in your own home, where she will have to go from clue to clue before ending up with the big prize:  the ring and a handwritten proposal.

4. Make it romantic

Do you write poetry?  Incorporating your proposal in a special poem created for the occasion will surely become a keepsake.  If you aren’t creative, you can find a freelance poet who, after consulting with you on a few details, can write you a poem celebrating your future life as a couple.

5. A weekend proposal

Why not book a romantic weekend together in a favorite town or city?   Organize with the hotel for them to set up in your room the ring, a bouquet of roses, champagne, and chocolates so that when you return from dinner, all are waiting for her to marvel at.

6. A crafty proposal

Does your mom or grandmother do embroidery?  Have them embroider “Will you marry me?” on a decorative cushion.  On the flip side, have them embroider “Yes!” You’ll want to keep this on your sofa forever!

7. A beautiful proposal

Before your fiancé gets home from work, arrange a trail of rose petals in the garden that led up to where the ring is placed.  Add lots of votive candles so that their gentle light illuminates the path.

8. Make a video

There are loads of software options that allow you to make your own video with music.  Spend some time selecting your favorite photos and songs, and edit these together to end in one frame which reads “Will you marry me?”  Then casually ask your fiancé if she’s seen “this great video you’ve found on youtube.”

9. A spy proposal

Write out your proposal in invisible ink on a sheet of paper.  Present it to her, wearing a spy-like trench coat and cap. Give her the pen that will allow her to “decode” the invisible ink, and watch her delight when she reveals your top-secret message.

10. Rent a car

Rent a fancy, top of the line car for a day.  Tell your fiancé it’s “just for the fun of driving something different.”  Once on the road, ask her to pull out the map that is in the glovebox. Instead of a map, she will find your ring box there, which you would have placed in the glovebox before.

11. The beach proposal

Pack a picnic and head for the shore.  Find a good site far from the waves to build a sandcastle.  Hand her a bucket and ask her to go get some water to pour over the sandcastle so it “lasts longer.”  While she’s gone, place the boxed ring on one of the sandcastle’s towers. When she returns, tell her that the castle also comes with its own crown jewels.  As an added touch, write out “Will you marry me?” in the sand while she is getting the water.

12. Candy

You can order personalized M & Ms that spell out “Will you marry me? You can also have your photos appear on the back side of the M & M.  If you are a pure chocolate fan, you can find chocolate letters that can be used to spell out your proposal. For added fun, arrange them as anagrams and have your fiancé figure out how to rearrange the letters so that they make sense.  Add some Hershey’s Kisses because….you both like kisses, right?

13. Let your pet do the work

Do you have a dog or cat?  Attached the ring to the animal’s collar.  Say to your fiancé “What’s that tinkling sound?  Can you check Fido’s collar?” Surprise!

14. Do it through music

There are loads of romantic ballads that can pop the question for you.  For starters, check out the following: “Marry Me” by Train, “Marry You” by Bruno Mars, “Perfect” by One Direction, “If I Ain’t Got You” by Alicia Keyes.

15. Are you crossword puzzle fans?

Create a personalized crossword puzzle whose clues will spell out your question.
