I now have 20 years experience, as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, helping couples to get more out of their lives, and to more out of their relationships. My approach is both serious and lighhearted. While I do use a fair amount of humor in my work, I am very influenced by, and have also been trained in, the scientifically validated approaches of both John Gottman, Ph.D., and Susan Johnson, Ph.D. (Emotionally Focussed Therapy for couples). They are the two top researcers in the subject of what it takes to revitalize a romance, and make it sustainable - for decades to come.
I work largely as a relationship coach, combining both the Gottman and Johnson approaches; to help couples transform their relationship into a "safe-haven" for both partners; where each person can feel understood, supported, valued, and emotionally safe.
I also incorporate my long experience from my own marriage of 40 years. My wife and I were NOT born to be good partners to one another. Fortunately, during our first decade together, we were able to teach ourselve how to become successful partners for one another. The Gottman and Johnson research, and their approaches confirm, what my wife and I have experienced.
Almost any two partners can do this, as long as they are willing to commit to learning about and implimenting the strategies, tools, and approaches which have been scientifically proven to support "happily ever after." It's a joy for me to contribute to that outcome for the couples whom I serve. It is truly the reason I do what I do.
