My role, as the therapist, is to listen, teach and encourage, while my client's role is to express concerns, learn and
implement that learning. With compassion and understanding, I work with each individual to help them build on their strengths and attain the personal growth they are committed to accomplishing.
I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) which is about changing the way we think about things. When we train our minds to think differently about challenges or goals we want to achieve we can eliminate the negative thinking that frequently leads to self-sabotage. I also am a Solution Focused therapist, meaning I don't spend multiple sessions focusing on the past, but I put emphasis on solutions to move forward. The past is important, I just don't spend an overabundant amount of time staying in the past.
I will most likely encourage you to participate in complementary approaches that you can add outside of our therapy together such as walking, imagery, mindfulness, yoga, focused breathing, massage, etc. It's helpful if all our parts are aligned.
We decide together the best approach for you. Your treatment plan in individualized for you.
