Emotionally Focused Therapy is the approach I use for marriage therapy. It is based upon Dr. Susan's Johnson's book Love Sense: The Science of Love. This is an evidence-based model based upon attachment theory. As this is an approach to helping clients communicate at a deep and intimate level, it is necessary that the couple is committed to each other and their process. In uncomplicated therapy, the process is relatively brief, four to five months.
