I utilize Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) to support couples who are seeking to create more vibrant, dynamic, and resilient relationships.
Emotionally Focused Therapy focuses on an exploration of the role of emotions and emotion regulation strategies in the context of individual and relational functioning in a primary adult attachment relationship. EFT is an experiential process that draws upon principles from attachment science and other humanistic approaches. In the context of couples or marriage therapy, EFT goals can include the following: increased understanding of partner differences, increased ability to navigate areas of conflict, increased ability to engage in repair conversations regarding attachment wounds, increased ability to address underlying attachment needs and fears, and increased feelings of security and trust within the relationship. According to the International Association for Emotionally Focused Therapy, EFT for couples is an empirically validated intervention in couples therapy (What Is EFT?, n.d.).
