Dr. Francine Rubinstein is a Clinical Psychologist who received her Bachelors degree from the University of Florida and both her Masters and Doctoral degrees from Nova Southeastern University. After completing her internship in spinal cord injury and psycho-oncology, Dr. Rubinstein worked at the Renfrew Center of Florida, an eating disorders treatment center. During her tenure at the Renfrew Center, she helped to develop and grow a vibrant and dynamic outpatient department and practicum training site for graduate students. Subsequently, Dr. Rubinstein has worked in residential substance abuse treatment facilities, community mental health centers, and private practice.

Dr. Rubinstein’s expertise and special interests include recovering from trauma, bereavement, post-partum issues, chronic illness/chronic pain, anxiety, depression, alcoholism, and stress management. Additionally, she enjoys working with individuals in the creative arts, such as writers and artists, to help them overcome and work through creative blocks.

Dr. Rubinstein is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) which is an effective therapy used in the treatment of trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). She has experience in program development and is also a Qualified Supervisor which allows her to supervise the training of mental health interns working toward licensure. She has been published in psychological journals addressing post-traumatic stress and chronic illness.

When treating patients, Dr. Rubinstein uses a strength-based approach. She works with her patients to clearly identify problems as well as the patient’s unique talents. She then uses these positive interpersonal resources to create healthier ways for patients to resolve or cope with their challenges. Treatment is specifically tailored to the patient and may include techniques of cognitive-restructuring, exploration of family dynamics, mindfulness/relaxation, and EMDR.
