It can be challenging for children, adolescents, and young adults to process what’s going on in their head and all the physical sensations in their body. Young people have a hard time expressing and understanding what they are feeling; like why their stomach hurts, why they have trouble sleeping, and why going to school might feel scary. I am incredibly passionate about pediatric and transitional aged youth (TAY) mental health. I aim to give young people the tools they need to share what they are feeling. I achieve this through unconditional positive regard and the technique of therapeutic play (for younger children). Most importantly, I let young people know that what they are feeling is okay. I keep parents involved with children 12 and under for a few minutes each session to go over coping strategies, behaviors, and to address and concerns.
