I am a licensed marriage and individual therapist for 40 years and work to assist clients in exploring and coming to a better understanding of their needs such that they can become better representatives of their preferences and limits to their associates. I emphasize the importance of staying friendly and saying what they mean in thoughtful, intentional manner. I hold the view that all of everyone's needs are valid and propose that no couple ever has to resort to fighting or arguing when they experience a conflict of preferences. Instead they need to engage in a productive conversation to search for win/win solutions that allow everyone to get the most of their needs met as possible. As such, I offer communication tutorials and guidelines for both speakers and receivers to follow.
