My work with couples focuses on helping partners recognize and break free of the dysfunctional interaction patterns that leave them feeling chronically neglected or abandoned, afraid or coerced by the very person who is supposed to be their safe harbor, until both retreat into defensive or aggressive positions that suppress intimacy and mutual vulnerability. I work bilaterally, helping each partner develop genuine empathic understanding of the other's pain, so the motivation to change comes from wanting to, not from obligation or fear.
Many of the couples I see are also navigating complex trauma, adult ADHD or autism, or both, in one or both partners. These factors often intensify a couple's negative cycle: trauma responses can look like withdrawal, hypervigilance, or explosive reactivity, while neurodivergent processing differences get misread as not caring, not listening, or not trying. I bring specialized clinical training in complex trauma and adult neurodiversity to this work, so we address what is actually driving the disconnection instead of applying generic communication techniques that don't account for what each partner is carrying.
Drawing on Emotionally Focused Therapy alongside trauma-informed and neurodiversity-affirming approaches, I help couples de-escalate conflict, uncover the deeper fears beneath it, and rebuild a relationship where both partners feel safe, seen, and genuinely wanted.
