The model I use is Brief, Solution Focused Therapy and my goal is to assist couples to define what the problem(s) is at the first appointment. Instead of trying to work with a vague statement such as "poor communication," my goal is to refine and help them define how their relationship would be different if their communication were to improve. Clients can learn how to identify and use each other's Love Language, learn how to be better at facing and resolving conflicts, how to be on the same page as partners when parenting kids, dealing with in-laws, etc. My hope is that couples will be able to define and live a "world class marriage."
