Balancing self and other can be a delicate and difficult dance, especially within a marriage relationship. My approach to therapy depends on your (and your spouse's) needs and situation: Are you wanting to increase intimacy? improve communication? heal from a rupture to the relationship? Or, have you reached a crossroads where you need to discern whether to stay together?

I will listen closely to discern the heart of the matter, and perhaps work with each of you some individually in addition to our sessions together. We'll likely talk about the role of personality (using the Enneagram) and each partner's experiences with their family of origin, as these exert a profound (and sometimes unconscious) influence over present-day challenges.

It is so important in couples' therapy for both partners to feel heard, safe, and respected -- as well as to find a therapist who is a good fit for both. I wish you well in your discernment and would be glad to be of service.
