I believe wholeheartedly in marriage counseling as it gives us an opportunity to correct patterns in real time. It is highly spontaneous, authentic and effective. My approach is rather eclectic but I am constantly looking for ways in which patterns derail opportunities for healing and genuine dialogue. We are contributing to these patterns in unconscious ways and they tend to polarize us rather than bring us together. With skilled facilitation these patterns can be interrupted, and then genuine healing and understanding will flow. Thus the relationship improves one interaction at a time...
