In my couples counseling sessions, my focus is on comprehending and addressing issues that arise when partners significantly differ in their behavior, thinking patterns, and cultural or racial backgrounds. I strive to facilitate a deeper understanding between couples, especially when one partner tends to be more rational while the other leans towards emotional responses. Additionally, I address the unique challenges stemming from diverse cultural and racial background.
My ultimate goal is to bridge these differences within a safe and supportive space. Navigating distinct ways of thinking, feeling, and reacting can be challenging, so I guide couples in recognizing the underlying desire for connection and appreciating the positive aspects each partner brings to the relationship. Whether one person tends to approach situations analytically while the other relies on emotions, I assist them in communicating effectively to truly understand each other's needs and how to fulfill them.
Drawing from my own cross-cultural life experiences, I specialize in navigating the complexities that arise from diverse cultural backgrounds. I understand how these differences can manifest in varying ideas, perceptions, expressions, and approaches to life. My role is to help couples navigate and appreciate these distinctions, ensuring a better understanding of each other's cultural perspectives. Ultimately, my aim is to assist couples in learning and respecting each other's ways, fostering a deeper and stronger connection.
I am fluent in both English and Chinese (Mandarin), and provide therapy in these two languages.
