I believe that couples enter into an unconscious agreement to build a healthy and happy partnership. When they have children, or other stressors occur, they will likely need support, need to resolve childhood problems, and need to learn how to be a partner for each other. I suggest that couples no longer set their sights on having just a good relationship, it's now time to learn how to be an amazing partner for each other which includes communicating without escalating, loving without fear, following your interests and creating joint interests.
