"If husbands spent their time and attention on demonstrating love to their wives, and wives focused their energy on showing respect for their husbands, imagine how different the world would be today." - Greg Laurie.
Five of the most common marriage difficulties: • Sex Problems • Communication Problems in Marriage • Infidelity • Money Problems • Unrealistic Expectations from the Spouse
I am Dr. Jim Fox, and I have over 27 years of counseling experience working with couples, parenting, teenagers, and individual mental health. I am a compassionate therapist who promotes healthy boundaries and progress in all clients as soon as they can move forward and deal with whatever toxicity they may have.
I have a master's degree in counseling from Denver Seminary and a doctorate in educational psychology, research, and evaluation from the University of Northern Colorado. Formerly, I was a professor at Azusa Pacific University and have written two books. I hold current Colorado (LPC) and Indiana (LMHC) licenses.
My therapy orientation focuses on what couples can do today to improve tomorrow with compassion and care. This includes a general Cognitive-Behavioral approach (CBT) and Solution-Focus Techniques. Also, many problems seem to stem from an improper set of boundaries. Boundaries that are either too rigid or too lax. I encourage changes in boundaries and help those in need develop and set boundaries to better cope with life's difficulties.
Sometimes couples and individuals must work out things in their past to move forward. I help them find issues in the past, deal appropriately with them, and then begin moving forward. I do this by helping explore the events and emotions that define people and process them to make changes. Such treatments can include traumatic events, toxic relationships, addictions, and more! T
The world presents so many ways to fix or uplift ourselves, and it can be confusing, and often pundits offer misleading or detrimental advice. Never does counseling fit into a cookie-cutter mold. I work with couples eclectically to find a way to effectively and lovingly move forward.
I am a Christian and will provide Christian-based therapy for those who request it.
