David received his Ph.D. in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Iowa and has been a practicing psychotherapist since 1987. Prior to entering private practice, David served as an Adjunct Instructor in the College of Medicine and conducted therapy in the Department of Family Practice at the University of Iowa. His research and writing on the impact of chronic illness and chronic pain on individual, couple, and family functioning have received national recognition. He has also received advanced training in the areas of Ericksonian Hypnosis, biofeedback, and brief therapy treatments for depression and anxiety.
