I like to learn about the family culture and values and as trust is developed in the relationship "we" as a team can figure out what is working so we are able to use the process to address what is not working. Couples work usually is successful if both agree to be "wrong" and willing to do right by the other.
Individual Therapy is focus on what is the best for the client and how to achieve inner peace.
The family therapy goal is what is the best for the family and how each member can set boundaries that are respected and satisfied to each and every member. The team decides the goal.
