The relationship with a partner or spouse is an attachment relationship. Within a setting of emotional safety we seek understand the difficulties that the partners are experiencing in their relationship. From this understanding, we develop a plan to help the partners reach their goals. If the difficulties lie in communication, we work to help the couple feel safe again with each other. I may provide information and skills about how to communicate more clearly and intimately. Within the safe setting, I help the couple to solve problems, disagree safely if need be, and create a relationship of respect and mutuality.
