I believe we all bring our own unique expereinces, backgrounds, filters, and ideas to a relationship. These are the things that make relationships interesting and wonderful, while at the same time can make relationships challenging. When each party in a relationship, can truly begin making an attempt to understand and accpet their partner's persepctives, amazing things happen. Generally speaking, no one sets out to intentionaly hurt one another. Miscommunication and misunderstandings left unchecked, are what lead to the bigger probelms areas in a relationship. We long and desire connection, especailly with our intimate partner. I work with couples to help them see that this is the fundamental desire (feeling connected, loved, and accepted), and that with evidenced based tools and guidance, it can be fully achieved. I am also a trauma therapist and understand how our own upbriniging and relationship history (or "her-story") can show up in present time. These are areas that we explore together as well, to ensure that we come the table with a clear mind, clear heart, and empty suitcases (i.e. little baggage).
