How is the first year of wedding for the newlyweds?
I think how the first year goes may depend a lot on the circumstances surrounding the marriage to begin with. I saw a lot of my girlfriends have a very difficult time because they had gotten pregnant while they were just dating the fellow and not for very long. In those days if you got pregnant, you got married and that was that. I think being young, pregnant, and married is a scary combination when you don't know the person very well. Many of them stayed together for years, but some did get divorced. Ideally, you will want to go into a marriage with less stress than they did to give yourselves a fighting chance.

Why should we go for marriage and couples counseling?
My husband and I never went to couples counseling or anything like that, but that probably has to do with the fact that it just wasn’t a popular thing to do in my day. You just used to have to deal with things and somehow make it work. I think it’s a great resource to have. Sometimes it helps to have someone to talk to who isn’t a family member or friend because you probably don’t have to be so careful about what you say around them.

What is the most common point of argument between couples in a marriage?
I think it depends how long the couple has been together. When we first got married, I used to get on my husband’s case for working long hours. Of course, he was just trying to be a good provider, but I didn’t just want someone to pay bills and buy me stuff, I needed my husband to be with me, to spend time with me. Eventually, he understood this and cut back on work, which helped a lot.

What to do when you are unhappy to make yourself happy?
I have found that physical exercise really affects my moods. I used to think that skipping an exercise here and there wouldn’t make a difference, until I started to notice how much my depression came back when I wasn’t exercising. Even if it’s something like a quick walk, it really brings me back to life and reminds me that I’m healthy and lucky to be alive.

Suggest some dating advice for girls that can of some help to them.
I think girls should not date a guy very seriously when they are teenagers. I know it’s very popular for boys and girls to date in middle school and high school, but there’s going to be so much time for all of that later. If they still want to date I think it has to be with their parent’s permission and in group settings as much as possible.

What is annulment of marriage? How is it different from divorce?
Yes, JoshKim is correct. An annulment is a legal procedure granted by a court or church that legally ends the marriage. It is different from a divorce in the sense that an annulment will basically erase the legal record of the marriage having taken place at all. There are different requirements to get a marriage annulled by a court or a church.

How is life after divorce for men?
JoshKim is pretty much right! In my experience, I have seen that divorce is really hard on men. It seems like it’s harder on them than it is on a woman. At least it seems to take them longer to get over it. Men are also really bad at showing how sad, lonely, and angry they feel so their attitude is really difficult.

Can thinking about divorce during preganacy cause health issues?
I don’t think it matters what you’re thinking about exactly, but I think if it causes the person any kind of stress—physical, emotional, or mental, I think this will not be good for the pregnancy. If divorce is something the woman thinks about often it is probably upsetting to her and may have unfortunate consequences for her health.

I want to break up with my boyfriend and need an immediate break up advice. Help.
I have found that the best thing to do when you feel you have to breakup with someone is to be kind and not get into too many details. Just say that it’s something you need to do and you can give a little explanation if you want, but usually that doesn’t make it any easier. Short and quick is the best way to go, in my opinion.

Does remarriage after divorce bring happiness?
I was married to my husband for 26 years. I was certain I would never remarry again, but two years after the divorce, love found me again. It was completely unexpected. An old flame came back into my life and slowly I accepted the fact that my first husband was forever gone, but I still deserved to be happy with someone else.

How should I get over a break up?

Take your time to mourn. If that person was important to you then you will definitely feel a sense of loss in your life. Don’t try to rush through those feelings, but just let yourself feel whatever you’re feeling at the time. Sometimes friends try to tell you to get on with your life, which is fine, but you need to do it when it feels right for you.
