Why trust is so important in a relationship?

Trust may be one of the most important factors in relationship success. Unlike small differences of opinion or little annoying things the other person does which can be ignored or forgiven, breaking someone's trust is a very serious violation of the relationship. Two people enter into a union and expect that the other person will be trustworthy.

I absolutely agree! Once trust is broken it is very difficult to get it back. I also don't think it's necessarily a one-time thing, but moreso when multiple lies or omissions have happened over time. At that point the person who has been lied to or who's feelings have been hurt is on the lookout for "the next time." This creates a spiral of mistrust.

Of course, some people bring mistrust into the relationship to begin with when their new partner hasn't actually done anything wrong. In these instances the person who is doing the blaming needs to take a good look at themselves and question whether or not their suspicions are based on facts and logic or just expectations.

Trust is the most important factor for a healthy relationship. That is the ground level of a relationship also. You may upgrade succesfully and enjoy deep connection with your partner.

When you’re in a long term relationship with someone, the two of you are supposed to meet life’s challenges together, to be on the same team and have each other’s back, so to speak.  When the road gets bumpy in life, you have to know that you can rely on that other person so that you can depend on their help, their counsel, and their support.  There is no other relationship in life that calls for such a partnership, so the bond of trust between spouses or romantic partners must be very strong.

Trust is the foundation of any healthy relationship. It is the assured reliance on the character, ability, strength or truth of someone or something. In building trust, words and behavior must come from character. It is character that builds trust, and not merely what one says or does. A person of character who can be trusted is someone who is honest and humble, transparent about their own faults and weaknesses and quick to say sorry. Those who lack character but try to getothers to trust them are sooner or later discovered for who they are. Trust is slowly built and quickly broken. It is a precious treasure which must be carefully guarded.
