Dispute resolution is an intermediate measure between separation and divorce wherein the partners work with a mediator to deal with some of the issues associated with the end of the marriage. Issues that are often considered for resolution include child custody, the division of debts and assets, alimony, child support, and the like. Often, dispute resolution is conducted in the presence of the parties’ attorneys. In many judiciaries, dispute resolution is mandated under law.

A third party is called upon to help resolve issues, beofre it goes to court. it usually takes place during sepratio, before a divorce. It is a good idea when both parties are feelig hurt ad upset and need to make good decisions such as child support and division of property. It can also decide who the children will live with, how often the children will see the parent they are not living with, and other matters like this.
