How to fix your marriage after having a baby?

A baby should not be the reason for people staying together. However, sometimes the time with a baby can be very tough and maybe the reason for the couple having problems is related to the new situation. Make sure that you have time to talk to each other alone and search for help from a counselor or therapist.

Date nights are important. If you can get a friend or family member to watch your child, spend time together the way you did before baby.

I think it’s really important to remember to have fun with your husband. That sounds impossible when you have so many adult responsibilities and you’re tired, but even if it’s something small like watching a funny movie together while the baby is sleeping. Something to bring you guys closer together is going to make a difference.

To add to that I think that you and your husband should bond over the baby. Talk about how amazing your child is and how both of you contributed to the blessing that you guys made. You can also go out as a family, do activities together to bring the two of you closer. After that the two of you can spend some alone time together to bond by yourselves.

After having a baby, show your partner that he or she is still a priority.  Leave your child with a trusted babysitter and go out for dinner and talk about anything that's not about the baby.  Focus on each other and strengthening that relationship.  Present an united front to the child and others and make it clear that your spouse comes first.  The best thing you can do for your children is to give them happy parents so make that your number one goal.

The best things you can do to get your relationship back on track after the drain of having a baby are:
·        Get as much rest as you can.  This may seem obvious, but if you can make it your top priority to sleep whenever you can, you will have more energy for yourself and your marriage.
·        Take time together.  Remember to play with each other.  Do something together that you both love.
·        Take care of yourselves.  Don’t work too hard.  Try to keep a healthy diet, and practice stress reduction techniques such as yoga and meditation.
