Wedding vows reflect the promises that couples make to each other.  There are traditional vows, but vows created by each person allows the couple to personalize the promises.

Many couples write their own wedding vows based on their relationship and the things they care deeply about. My husband and I go back and re-read our vows often to check in on the health of our marriage and see how well we are keeping the promises we made to each other.

Marriage vows should reflect your commitment to love, cherish, care for, and be faithful to your spouse until death. They should be things that you take very seriously - think a business contract, but mor personal.

Mostly what wedding vows are supposed to say is what specific attitudes, beliefs and behaviors the couple will be committing to
uphold throughout the rest of their lives.  For most people, this includes fidelity, loyalty, lasting love, and respect, no matter what happens in the future.  There are many ways to get these ideas across, and people of different faiths may use slightly different words to convey the same meaning, but basically all wedding vows say the same thing.  It’s quite traditional to include the words, “for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death do us part.”
