Having a marriage certificate notarized is almost impossible. In most cases, the notary will tell you it is illegal for them to notarize your marriage certificate, and they would be correct. A better option when you need a verified copy of your marriage license is to order a certified copy from the county clerk’s office in the county where you were married. This will look just like the original and has the embossed seal and stamp, and because it comes from the original issuing authority, it is usually an acceptable alternative to a notarized marriage license.
