Family counseling is available from a wide range ofdifferent sources. You can start by asking for a referral from your primary care physician or other medical doctor. Most health insurance carriers also maintain a list of preferred mental health providers, so you can call or visit your managed care provider’s website to obtain a short list. Don’t forget to ask around with people you already know, too. Friends and family can often point you in the right direction for a good family counselor. Once you have a list, make sure you talk to a few different counselors before choosing the one that’s right for you.
