What are your financial goals? How do you think I see you?

Engaged couples have so much to talk about! Questions engaged couples should explore together include:

1.      What brought us together?

2.      Why is marriage appropriate at this time? Or is it not?

3.      What gifts and liabilities do we each bring to the marriage union?

4.      Do we have key supporters who affirm our compatibility for marriage?

5.      What role does faith play in our partnership?

These questions can get the conversation underway. Couples should recognize that effective communication is far more important than communicating through a script of premarital questions. If this communicative exercise is a challenge for the partners, then maybe marriage plans should be revisited.

What does commitment mean to you? Do you understand the nature of commitment, or are you getting married soley based on your attraction to one another? Be clear about your reasons for marriage, don't be swept away by lust or infatuation. These things fade, and your marriage bust be build on deep friendship with a deep respect for commitment.

Are you willing to commit yourself to your spouse for life, even if emotional love may come and go? Marriages that are ruled by emotions rather than commitment are rocky at best, and failed at worst. You must be emotionally mature enough to work through issues and be selfless toward your spouse before you make the choice to get married.
