There is actually a Pew Research study which found that one-third of people using dating websites will never actually meet the people they're talking to. Yikes!
But does that mean there are no benefits to online dating? Of course not! There are plenty. Here are just a few:
Quickly meet people with similar values/interests
It's more private than in-person dating
You get to know someone on an emotional level without physical chemistry getting in the way
Because of the above, you form deeper connections quicker
It's potentially safer than meeting a stranger in person.
If you do take the plunge, watch what websites you use. If you're looking for a relationship, steer towards websites like Bumble, which lets the female take the reins, and maybe void places like Tinder.
Dating service Plenty of Fish mentioned once that people who use the word "love" in their profiles were more likely to find meaningful relationships because they were getting their intentions out there (plus, the guys who are most likely to send out nudes will probably hiss at the sight of love in your profile and won't harass you - Ha!). That’s some food for thought!
