The Duke of Cambridge Prince William and Kate Middleton began their seven day trip to India and Bhutan on 10 April, 2016. The royal couple’s trip to Asia is going to be a memorable one as they will be spending lots of their time meeting Bollywood stars. They will also indulge in India’s rich and diverse culture and use this time to build strong ties and bond with the two countries.
Prince William revealed that India was on Kate’s wish list since the time they got married. “When I and Catherine got married, India was the first place in her list which she told me she wanted to visit. Two children and five years later we finally made it and we are quite honoured to be here”, he said.
They landed in Mumbai this Sunday and for the next five days, they will be travelling through India and remote areas of Bhutan.
The royal couple’s first day in India
The Duke and duchess have won many hearts from Indian fans on their on-going visit. Earlier on the day of their arrival, the couple’s first stop was at Taj Mahal Palace, one of the hotels attacked in Mumbai in 2008. The royal couple paid the visit to pay wreath to pay tribute in honor of those killed in the attack. They both placed a wreath with the message, “In memory of those who lost their lives and those injured in the senseless atrocities at the Taj Mahal Hotel. William, Catherine.”
The royal couple paid a visit to Malabar hills where the city’s slum children reside to highlight a charity named SMILE that primarily focuses on giving opportunities to young people. They even played cricket at Oval Maidan in Mumbai where Kate shared a shot with Sachin Tendulkar and Dilip Vengsarkar. After the cricket, the couple was treated with a grand dinner at Bollywood Charity Gala at Taj Hotel to support underprivileged children of the country. All A-listers from Bollywood like Aishwarya Rai, Shahrukh Khan and Madhuri Dixit were invited for the event. The Duke greeted his guests in the event with namaste in his concluding speech after praising India’s tradition.
How does travel strengthen a marriage?
We truly believe that traveling strengthens a marriage and helps to keep the romance alive. Numerous studies have shown that the daily stress of managing careers, home and raising children can really impact a marriage. Traveling together is a great way to refresh a marriage and keep the romance alive.
Here’s how it can help:
Helps in creating new memories
Surprisingly, boredom is a leading cause of divorce. When couples travel together, they discover new places, interesting foods, and experience new adventures. These new memories help to keep the boredom away that come from daily routines such as going to work, cooking, watching TV, etc.
Helps to develop a partnership
Travel is often unexpected – the couple decides together where to stay, how much to spend, what to see, and where to eat. All these constructive decisions require that you communicate well. Good communication leads to a happy trip and a healthy relationship.
Increasing dependence on each other
Especially while traveling to a foreign country, couples have to rely on each other to make sure that they stay healthy and safe. Knowing that you have someone whom you can depend on (and vice-versa) is absolutely reassuring.
