Losing anything you love hurts, and a partner is no exception. You might feel a little lost, lonely, and afraid of trying to love again.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But, the pain of a breakup doesn&rsquo;t need to last forever, and you can absolutely get back out there and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.marriage.com\/advice\/love\/falling-in-love-again-after-being-hurt\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">find love again<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> even if that doesn&rsquo;t feel true right now.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A lot of the prolonged pain we feel following a breakup is driven by 2 things:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the way we&rsquo;re thinking, and&nbsp;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the amount of time we spend going down memory lane.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Although the memories and thoughts will always be with you, the way you view them can change. Letting go of a relationship is something you can do!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">So, now you&rsquo;re probably wondering <\/span><b>how to let go and how to move on<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> or wishing that you knew <\/span><b>how to stop loving someone<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> so you can feel better.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Here are ten ways to help you learn how to get over someone you love and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.marriage.com\/advice\/relationship\/how-to-accept-and-move-on-from-a-relationship\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">move on with your life<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"1-Allow-yourself-to-grieve-the-loss\"><\/span>1.&nbsp;Allow yourself to grieve the loss<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This may seem counterintuitive, but trying to avoid feeling the emotions that come with a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.goodtherapy.org\/learn-about-therapy\/issues\/breakup\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">painful breakup<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> can actually have the opposite effect and deepen and extend the pain.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Instead of distracting yourself from your feelings or <\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.marriage.com\/quotes\/topics\/break-up\"><b>thoughts about the breakup<\/b><\/a><b>, allow yourself to sit with them<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We have emotions for a reason, even if they&rsquo;re painful to experience sometimes.
