Oh&mdash;and be sure to add to the corresponding months a celebration of.<\/span><\/p>\n<ol><li><b>Each of your birthdays<\/b><\/li>\n<li><b>The month you met<\/b><\/li>\n<li><strong>The month you fell in love<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>The month you got engaged<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Your anniversary<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol><h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"1-January\"><\/span>1. January<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Do something special together to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.marriage.com\/advice\/romance\/most-romantic-new-years-celebration-ideas-for-couples\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">celebrate the New Year<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It doesn&rsquo;t have to be expensive or difficult. Choose whatever has meaning and special pleasure for you.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For example, <\/span><b>you could get together with the family.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Or, <\/span><b>do something fun that you have not done in a while.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&nbsp;If you live in a snow-country, build a snowman, go sled-riding.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you live in warmer areas, walk the beach, walk a hiking trail, go where you can see animals. It doesn&rsquo;t matter.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Be sure to write your New Year&rsquo;s love resolutions&mdash;which, of course, include things that you need to improve!<\/span><\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"2-February\"><\/span>2. February<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Yep&mdash;it&rsquo;s Valentine&rsquo;s Day month in the yearly love calendar.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Start thinking now about<\/span><b> what you would like to say and do to strengthen your appreciation and love for your spouse<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<ol><li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Start by making a card and writing down all the things that you love and respect about your spouse.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.marriage.com\/advice\/love\/how-to-express-your-love\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Expressing your love<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> with expensive gifts is not necessary&mdash;and often not effective.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Do something that has personal meaning to you as a couple.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">My clients&rsquo; ideas include:<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Writing a love letter of appreciation<\/p>\n<ol><li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Buying something that you know your spouse wants<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Going to a place or event that your spouse mentioned<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Surprising your spouse by arranging for your spouse&rsquo;s best friend or family member to visit<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Giving your spouse a handmade coupon that says something personally meaningful.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol><p><strong>Here are a few examples:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Free never-expire coupon<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Redeemable for any one item<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">From the list:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">New (fill in the blank)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Visit to see or to bring here (fill in the blank)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Vacation to (fill in the blank)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Redo (fill in the blank)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is also a snow month in many countries. Have fun together&mdash;build a snowman, go for a sled ride.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"3-March\"><\/span>3. March<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It&rsquo;s Springtime in the love calendar !<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Get out of the house, do <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.marriage.com\/advice\/relationship\/things-to-do-as-a-couple\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">something fun together<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Be silly, do something you&rsquo;ve talked and talked about doing&mdash;but never do!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Stop talking and make plans. And how about Spring Cleaning?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Don&rsquo;t dread it. Work together to go through closets and select things to give away. Try on that jacket or skirt in the back of the closet.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Do it with your spouse and children&mdash;and laugh at why you bought that in the first place. Just do it! Do it together and keep the spark alive.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">And, then, yes, as always,<\/span><b> thank your spouse and family for helping<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"4-April\"><\/span>4. April<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Usually, this time of year is a month of various religious holidays.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Of course, adjust the way you <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.marriage.com\/advice\/relationship\/spending-time-together\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">celebrate your holiday<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and your love of being with your spouse in whatever way is best for you.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Think about how you might celebrate in a way that incorporates an action that is important to your spouse.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For example, invite someone whom your spouse has not seen in a while. Or, decide to <\/span><b>do something charitable to help a family or person in need<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fidelitycharitable.org\/articles\/is-giving-together-the-secret-to-happiness.html\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\"><b>Giving together as a couple<\/b><\/a><b> and as a family brings you closer together <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and more appreciative of what you have.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"5-May\"><\/span>5. Whew!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">No excuses&mdash;there are many opportunities where you can add your special way of expressing your love for your spouse during this time in your love calendar.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Remember that coupon you might have used for Valentine&rsquo;s Day? You can tweak it for any of the occasions.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.marriage.com\/advice\/relationship\/appreciating-and-valuing-your-spouse\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A kind note of appreciation<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> can make a family celebration more romantic and special. For example, you can write a letter to your spouse about what a wonderful parent and partner they are in your life.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Think about<\/span><b> ways to include the family and\/or children.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Also, see the June suggestions for ideas that you can also use for this month.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"6-June\"><\/span>6. June<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Fathers Day! Sometimes College Graduation Day! Sometimes Anniversary Day! First Day of Summer! Whew again!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Do one of your unused ideas that you considered for May. Often, for example, <\/span><b>doing one of those overlooked and forgotten household tasks<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> goes a long way to express your love. Involve the family, for example, in cleaning out the garage or closets!<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Aggravating tasks are usually more fun when you have a crew.<\/span><\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"7-July\"><\/span>7. July<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Fourth of July! Oh this month in the yearly love calendar for couples is easy: Celebrate you two!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If your anniversary is months away, <\/span><b>have an &ldquo;interim&rdquo; anniversary celebration to let your spouse know your feelings of joy and gratitude<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There is no law that says that you can&rsquo;t create your own holiday! Have fun together and with the family.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"8-August\"><\/span>8. August<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Back to school time?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Time to return from vacation?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Oh, August too often is not a happy month: Bad weather somewhere, kids to get ready, and packing up time. Instead of getting stressed out, <\/span><b>do <\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/globalnews.ca\/news\/4125983\/household-chore-relationships\/\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\"><b>dreaded tasks together<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Divide up the smaller tasks.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When couples work together even on unpleasant things they can feel closer.<\/span><\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Don&rsquo;t turn into a perfectionist or drill sergeant.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Just get things done&mdash;and then thank each other. You might even want to prepare a thank you card earlier. And always <\/span><b>assign tasks to your children.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Afterward, find a way to celebrate being a couple and family. Order in, barbecue, watch a movie together, play a game, and just do something that refreshes your closeness.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"9-September\"><\/span>9. First day of Autumn. Religious holidays for others.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Just celebrate life when September comes up in your love calendar!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Get outside.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Look at your community&rsquo;s calendar for fun things to do with family and with just your spouse<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. September is also often a month of new beginnings for school children.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Instead of your usual way of dividing up your childcare tasks, do at least one of them together.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Co-parenting can be frustrating, but it is less so when you are a team. And then write a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.marriage.com\/advice\/relationship\/write-a-thank-you-letter-to-your-spouse\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">thank you note to your spouse<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> about how wonderful they are!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Also watch:<\/strong><br><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/zhHRz9dEQD8\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"10-October\"><\/span>10. October<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Halloween! Columbus Day! What?? How do you celebrate Columbus Day? Well, Columbus was an explorer.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Think about how your spouse helped you explore and discover yourself <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">in ways that helped you grow.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">And, yes, write that note of appreciation. Explain what you&rsquo;ve discovered about you, life, and love. And Halloween?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Now is the time to be silly. Dress up&mdash;or at least wear a silly hat&mdash;when you answer the door or attend your child&rsquo;s school celebration. If available in your area, go on a hayride. Some communities offer pre-arranged ones or rentals. Just have fun! And <\/span><b>be appreciative of autumn beauty.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&nbsp;Go for drives to look at the leaves changing. Carve pumpkins together. Go apple-picking. Just thrive!<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"11-November\"><\/span>11. November<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Veterans Day! Thanksgiving!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These are both holidays in your love calendar where you can give thanks.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Watch the Veterans Day parade in your town, if you have one.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Get humble and appreciative.<\/span><\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.foryourmarriage.org\/blogs\/how-gratitude-strengthens-a-marriage\/\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Express your thankfulness with your family<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and privately with your spouse. Donate food to the local food-bank.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Or, arrange ahead of time for your whole family to volunteer at your local food bank. Or, work in the food kitchen and help serve the food to the less fortunate.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Remember, <\/span><b>doing charitable deeds together brings you all closer<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and makes you more appreciative, kinder, and more humble and loving. You could create a Thanksgiving ritual of going through the pantry and giving or volunteering together.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"12-December\"><\/span>12. December<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Christmas! Other religious celebrations! New Year&rsquo;s Eve! First Day of Winter!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Read again the charitable tips I mentioned for November.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In your love calendar, repeat tasks for December. Be sure t<\/span><b>o sort through your and your children&rsquo;s closets again for things to donate to organizations such as Goodwill or Salvation Army.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> And have fun on the first day of good-fun snow!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.marriage.com\/advice\/relationship\/new-year-resolutions-for-the-lovers-among-us\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Write New Year&rsquo;s Resolutions as a couple<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and then as a family. Make it fun. Ask the kids what they think Mom and Dad should write for their resolutions! Help each other. Celebrate each other.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Help others.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As you can see by now, there are similar loving suggestions threaded throughout each month. It seems that we busy humans need many reminders of the importance of expressing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marriage.com\/advice\/love\/8-ways-to-show-appreciation-to-the-love-of-your-life\/\">appreciation in different ways to our spouse<\/a>, children, family, and community.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">No act is too small.
