Top 5 Ways Brides Ruin their Own Wedding

We usually give brides tips on things they can do prior to or on the big day to make it as special as possible. But sometimes it’s the things that you don’t do that makes the bigger difference. Being aware of these issues will help ease the stress of the wedding planning process. Fortunately, we have Ryan Larson from Savoir Flair Weddings who will be giving you the top 5 ways brides ruin their own wedding.

1. DIY Overload- They do too many DIY projects the week before and even week of their wedding and are too stressed out and tired to truly enjoy the day. Make sure that if you’re pursuing wedding DIY projects that you don’t overload yourself. You may want to ask family and friends to help you out with some of the projects if you start to feel overwhelmed. Remember the goal of your wedding day is to be happy!

2. They can’t let go of perfection- A bride who can get to the point of “I’m getting married..that’s the goal…if things aren’t perfect it’s okay” is going to have a much much better day than the bride who lets her day be ruined if the cake doesn’t look exactly like she thought it would.  Even if something crazy happens, such as a florist getting into a 6 car pile up 2 hours before a wedding (yes it happened) you can still have a great day with less flowers. In the end, you want to get married and celebrate with your nearest and dearest. That’s really all that matters..

3. Brides Forget to Focus- Some brides and grooms are so focused on the wedding that they forgot to think about the marriage and the real reason for coming together. If you truly are focused on the real reason for this day than there is not much that can ruin it.

4. Too much Drama- They let their family relationships muddle the day like a big family Thanksgiving gone bad.  Try to focus on those around you that are positive people and let the others go about their normal activities without you worrying about them and their dramas.

5. They don’t trust the Pros- Some brides forget to trust the vendors they spent so much time deciding to hire. There are certain personalities that look around all night wondering if the caterer remembered to use their drink stirrers at the bar, or pour the right wine at dinner or any other details that run through their head all night…..hire well…then plan every detail…then trust…let go….and enjoy.
