Wedding Wednesdays: Vintage Weddings Part II
This Wedding Wednesday, we’re covering one of the most popular trends for engaged couples everywhere—the vintage wedding. Tiffany, a blogger for the well-known Los Angeles vintage rockabilly store Stop Staring Clothing, has some really great ideas when it comes to a vintage look. Last week, we finished covering bridal, bridesmaids, and groom attire– from the right shapes and textures, as well as colors and fabrics. Here’s part two, which features how to get a classic vintage look when it comes to hair, accessories, and more, to finish off your vintage vision!
Hair
Waves and curls are vital in creating a vintage look. Pin curls or waved hair looks great pulled half up with a vintage hair comb to hold it in place. A swirling up-do or a French twist is a classic style that looks great accessorized. And speaking of hair accessories, wow– the vintage bride have a lot of options, especially nowadays when vintage style is so in! There are veils, that can vary from waist-length to birdcage. You can also pick a sparkly, rhinestoned deco hair comb to create some glamour. Flower or feather fascinators can be used to add some flirty style. Pillbox hats and headbands are also in style, and can be easy to customize and wear.
Etsy is a great resource for finding hair accessories—there are countless very talented artists who create wedding hair pieces and other accessories. With a little looking, you are sure to find a style that is just what you’ve been wanting or looking for. Many Etsy artists also welcome custom orders, as well—so if you see a style you love but want it in cream instead of white, most of the time that can be arranged. Start looking, because there’s a ton to be uncovered! Check out our Daily Unveils section for some great websites.

Accessories
Again, the vintage bride has a lot of options with her accessories. Consider your overall look, and make sure to keep things balanced. Jewelry should be ornate but toned down, with just a couple of key pieces. A filigree bangle would look great paired with chandelier earrings. Pearl studs would pair well with strands of beads. You can often find beautiful vintage jewelry online and in thrift stores. These styles are still very much alive, though, so you can also find many new pieces that have a classic, vintage feel.

Other accessories can be great additions to any look. Lace gloves that stop at the wrist can give a flirty look, while longer satin gloves will give a sense of luxurious glamour– that sort of thing. A beaded clutch or a small champagne colored evening bag can add a bit of sparkle — and give you somewhere to stash your things. For a bit of extra retro flair, wear pale stockings with a seam down the back.

And of course, pieces that are near and dear to you (don’t forget the “borrowed” in the “borrowed and blue”), such as true vintage pieces (from your mother, aunt, grandmother, or even future family-in-law) should not be forgotten!
All of these elements should help you finish off your vintage wedding attire, and help you create the vintage wedding of your dreams!
