Should You Use your Credit Card for Wedding Expenses?

Your wedding day is the best day of your life.  You want everything to be perfect — photographer, decor, the ceremony,  etc. Unfortunately, weddings aren’t free (unless the old tradition where the father of the bride pays is being observed) , and this “perfection” adds up and needs to be paid for one way or another. So does it make sense to use a credit card for these expenses?

Whether out of necessity or a desire to rack up a lot of reward points, if you have already planned on using a credit card to pay for your wedding expenses, you’re not alone.

58% of engaged women said “I do” when asked if they expected to use a credit card to help pay for wedding expenses. And weddings aren’t cheap — according to the survey, the average cost of a wedding is around $28,000. So before you whip out the plastic, it makes sense to ask yourself a couple of “test” questions. First, have you made a budget for your wedding? If so, can the wedding be paid without using a credit card?
